RT device cannot be discovered by DewesoftX if Windows Firewall is turned on and DewesoftX was not added as a firewall exceptions during its installation or these firewall rules were disabled after the installation. If customer does not want to add DewesoftX to firewall exception rules, there is an option to create a single firewall "Inbound Rule" for enabling discovery of RT devices (OBSIDIAN, XHS). In order to create new exception, you should navigate in Windows to "Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security".

STEP 1:

Create a new "Inbound Rule" with type "Program" or "Port".

STEP 2:

If you choose type "Program" then enter the path to "DEWEsoft.exe".

If you choose type "Port" then select protocol and port that you want to apply this rule to. For TCP protocol the port is 30002 and if you choose UDP protocol the port is 30004.

STEP 3:

In the next two windows choose "Allow connection" and options when this rule applies.

STEP 4:

Add a name and a description for a new "Inbound rule".

STEP 5:

In case you created "Program" type of "Inbound Rule", right click on it and then select "Properties". Navigate to "Protocols and Ports" tab to set a specific port for communication protocol. If you choose TCP protocol the port is 30002 and if you choose UDP protocol the port is 30004. This step is not needed if you created "Port" type of "Inbound Rule".

After described steps are done, the RT device should be discovered by DewesoftX.

The complete process can be viewed in the attached videos where OBSIDIAN was used as a RT device.
