This article explains how to simply connect a pullup resistor to get the digital outputs to work.

On our DAQ instruments, the outputs are configured as „open-collector“. This is more universal since various voltage levels for High-Level (e.g. 5V, 12V, 24V, …) can be used. Simply connect a resistor (e.g. 10 kOhm) from the DO pin to your power supply (for TTL +5V you can use the Pin5 on the Dewesoft Counter, for +12V the Pin 6).
