The OPC-DA (Data Access Protocol) protocol supports the older version of data modelling and therefore is not compatible with the newer OPC-UA (Unified Architecture) protocol.
With an additional 3rd party software program we can get that OPC-DA server acts like an OPC-UA server, therefore becomes compatible with the UA protocol. In this configuration, data from the OPC-DA server can be read using the Dewesoft OPC-UA client plugin.
For this application we have tested the Cogent Datahub 3rd party software, for which we can not offer the support.
The process of all settings is quite simple, all you have to do is set the OPC-DA server as an OPC-DA client and OPC-UA server, and the rest is done automatically.
With Dewesoft OPC-UA client plugin we have tested the data transfer up to 100Hz.
We were only able to test the system with the Dewesoft OPC-UA client connected to the 3rd party OPC-DA Server, but the compatibility should also work in the reverse order, so in case when the OPC-DA client wants to read data from the Dewesoft OPC-UA server.
